New Shooters are Welcome

GPSL Welcomes New Members:

Whether you are new to handgun shooting, an experienced shooter, or simply new to IPSC-style practical shooting, GPSL is a great place to give it a try. Our club membership represents all skill levels from beginners to Grand Masters, all willing to share their knowledge with new shooters.

If you have the basic equipment listed below, you can shoot with us. If you don’t have a gun and holster, one of our members will gladly loan them to you for your first match.

And you will need some ammo which is sold in the store.

Safety Comes First

GPSL takes pride in our safety record. We have never had a firearm related injury and we want to keep it that way. Understanding and following the basic gun safety rules is a must. Shooters new to GPSL whether experienced or not are required to go through a “New Shooters Safety Briefing” before their first GPSL match.

Read our Safety Rules.

What Do I Need to Get Started?

  • Hearing Protection
  • Eye Protection
  • Strong-Side Belt Holster Which Covers the Trigger Guard *
  • Extra Magazines or Speed Loaders
  • Plenty of Ammunition (100 rounds recommended for GPSL matches)
  • Handgun (9mm Luger or Larger Caliber)
  • Eye and hearing protection can be rented at the range

    * Cross Draw and Shoulder Holsters Are Not Allowed

Matches

GPSL shoots an indoor match every Wednesday evening consisting of 2 to 4 stages (courses of fire). The first Wednesday match of each month includes a USPSA Classifier Stage used to rank shooters according to skill level.

The remaining Wednesdays are fun shoots consisting of a mix of demanding field courses, standards and speed shoot stages.

Range Rules

1. If coming to a GPSL match, please park behind the store; there is only a small parking space on the road frontage and range management wants us to keep that free for his retail clientele. See the Directions page for details of how to get there.

2. After you have parked, walk through the alley from the parking lot to the shop front; there will be a side door next to the shop display window with "GPSL" on it. Come up the stairs and we gather up there to sign in and put on our gear before the evening's fun begins.

More Info

Check out our FAQ for more detail about what we do.

There is also much more information available on the USPSA and Georgia IPSC web sites. And, we are always happy to answer your questions as well.

Drop an e-mail to us with GPSL in the title or come by the range and say hello in person.
